Katy Palmer is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a Master of Science in Nursing from Concordia University, Wisconsin. With a diverse background in emergency and family medicine, along with experience in both inpatient and outpatient procedural settings, she is committed to providing exceptional patient care.

In 2021, Katy founded Cardinal Clinic with a vision to integrate complementary medicine into traditional healthcare. What began with IV nutrition and weight management has since expanded into innovative longevity and restorative treatments. Today she offers therapies designed to support healing, enhance well-being, and promote vitality, addressing concerns such as illness, chronic pain, stress, anti-aging, and aesthetic rejuvenation.

Katy's greatest joy is empowering patients to look and feel their best.

Beyond her professional life, she is deeply devoted to her family and church community. She finds balance and inspiration through gardening and exploring the scenic hiking trails of the Pacific Northwest.

What is the Nordlys® system?

Nordlys® is an FDA-cleared, multi-application IPL and laser platform by Candela. It brings several technologies together in one device, including SWT® IPL, non-ablative fractional 1550 nm and 1940 nm lasers, and an Nd:YAG laser, so a single system can address a wide range of skin concerns.

What skin concerns can Nordlys® treat?

It is used to improve sun damage, age spots and pigmentation, redness and visible vessels, acne, uneven texture and fine lines, and to reduce unwanted hair. Your provider will confirm which concerns are the best fit for your skin during your consultation.

How is SWT® IPL different from regular IPL?

Selective Waveband Technology uses advanced filtering to remove potentially harmful wavelengths on both sides of the spectrum. That means more targeted treatment with less heat delivered to the surrounding skin compared to traditional broadband IPL.

Is there any downtime?

Nordlys® treatments are non-ablative, so downtime is generally minimal. You may notice temporary redness, mild swelling, or warmth that typically settles within a few hours to a day. Pigmented spots can darken briefly before gradually flaking away as your skin renews.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your concern and how your skin responds. Some results are visible after a single session, and many concerns respond best to a short series of treatments spaced a few weeks apart. Our signature Light & Bright® treatment is typically performed over three sessions. Your provider will recommend a plan at your consultation.

Does the treatment hurt?

Most patients tolerate it well. You may feel brief pulses of warmth or a light snapping sensation. The Nordlys® SoftCool™ system delivers cool air during treatment for added comfort, and many patients describe IPL sessions as practically pain-free.
